Who’s Who

Rector – Rev. Mark McCaghrey

Mark grew up in rural Norfolk before being ordained in Surrey in 1994. Before coming to lead the Mattishall and Tudd Valley Benefice in 2012 he was Vicar of St. Andrew’s, Lowestoft for fifteen years. Mark is married to Fiona, a teaching assistant and has four children.

Assistant Minister – Rev. Gerald Rootham

Gerald was ordained back in 2002; since 2010 he has been employed to work part time in the benefice . Before that, Gerald managed Letton Hall Christian Conference Centre, but his background is in finance. Gerald is married with four children and a growing supply of grand children.

Assistant Minister – Rev. Sally Thurgill

Sally was ordained as an Ordained Local Minister in 2002; although she leads services throughout the benefice, she focuses her ministry on the parish of Yaxham. Alongside being ordained, Sally works in a vetinary practice and is married with two children.

Reader – Jackie Clay

Jackie became a Christian back in 2002 as a result of attending an Alpha course in Mattishall. She was licensed as a reader in 2009. Jackie is married with two daughters and two step daughters.

Reader – Tom Cross

Tom was licensed as a reader in 2008; prior to this, he worked for Norwich Union. Although he leads services throughout the benefice, Tom focuses his ministry on the parish of Welbourne. Tom is married with two children.

Reader – Margaret Dixon

Margaret has been a lay reader for many years and has a wealth of experience to share with others. For 35 years, she was a teacher and she has travelled all over the world. Margaret mainly leads services at East Tuddenham, but she also acts as verger at All Saints’ Mattishall.

Reader – Joyce Turner

Joyce was licensed as a lay reader in 2005, she originates from Essex and spent many years there working in banking. Joyce is married with children.

Reader – Cynthia Wake

Cynthia has ben a reader for some years and has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the Church of England. Before retiring, Cynthia worked as a teacher and missionary.

Reader – Alan Cossey

Alan Cossey
Alan was born in Hellesdon, near Norwich, and became a Christian at university through a discussion group. He worked for a local chemical company for 24 years before starting to work for himself writing database software. Alan was licensed as a Reader in 2013 and is married to Sue with three grown up children.

Reader – Jackie Crisp

Jackie Crisp
Jackie is Norfolk born and bred! She is married to Graham and has 2 grown up daughters and her day job is as a partner of a firm of Chartered Surveyors based in Norwich. On an Alpha Course in September 2003 she became a Christian and after 3 years of training is now a Reader. She is learning to play golf and would love to do Strictly!
